Gandhi Jayanti is a domestic festival held in India to celebrate the birthday of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who was born on October 2, 1869, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi or Bapuji. It is celebrated on October 2nd annually and is one of India’s three national holidays. On 15 June 2007, the UN General Assembly announced its adoption of a resolution stating that 2 October will be celebrated as the International Non-Violence Day.
